Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of self-disclosure on the relationship between supervisees¡¯ attachment strategies and supervision satisfaction. For the purpose of the current study, data was collected from 288 counselors who have received personal supervision at least three times from the same supervisor within a year or were under such supervision at the time of the study. The data were analyzed by means of Pearson¡¯s correlation and by structural equation modeling. The results were as follows. First, supervisee attachment strategies sub-factor(avoidance, rejection) were found to be negatively correlated with supervision satisfaction and self-disclosure. Self-disclosure was found to be positively correlated with supervision satisfaction. Second, as a result of verifying the mediating effect of self-disclosure in the relationship between the each sub-factors of supervisee attachment strategies and supervision satisfaction, avoidance was found to explain supervision satisfaction significantly by partially mediating self-disclosure, and rejection was significant in explaining supervision satisfaction by fully mediating self-disclosure. In conclusion, this study verified the mediating effect of self-disclosure on the relationship between supervisee¡¯s attachment strategies and supervision satisfaction.
